Dallas “Gramps” James, 72, of Columbia Station, went home to meet the Lord on Thursday September 15, 2011 after a long illness. He was born March 25, 1939 in Normantown, West Virginia.
Dallas was a member of the Midway Baptist Church and the Silver Saints and was retired from the Laborers Union. He enjoyed trips to West Virginia with his friends and beagles, hunting, 4-wheeling and bluegrass gospel music.
Dallas was the beloved husband of Lois (Akers) married 47 years; loving Dad to Eddie James and Pauletta; and Gramps to Jesse James, all of LaGrange; he is also survived by sisters, LeNore Baker (Jim) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Katie Spade of Normantown, Brenda Snider (Jim) of Letter Gap, West Virginia; and by his brother, Roy Moss (Kay) of Parsons, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Maple James; mother, Ora Smith; and step-father, Willard Smith; and by his brother, Rodney Moss.
Friends may call in the Midway Baptist Church, 41812 Griswold Rd., Elyria, Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 5 to 8 P.M., where funeral services will be held Monday, September 19, 2011 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Chuck Keesee and Elder Larry Fisher officiating. Burial will be in River Road Cemetery, LaGrange Twp.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Midway Baptist Church.
