Keystone senior Sara Zambo came back from a six-year absence and after an injury to starter Jamie Stokley, Zambo has stepped in as the Wildcats’ starting goalkeeper.
“Sara heard good things from the girls at tryouts and she decided she wanted to come out and play again her senior year,” Keystone coach Tim Giesel said. “When Jamie broke her finger just before the start of the season, I was looking for a goalkeeper and Sara said that she had played keeper when she was younger. She was a little rusty at first but she has done an outstanding job for us.”
The Wildcats are 2-5 going into today’s match at Lutheran West. They are one of the youngest teams in the area with just two upperclassmen who have previous high school soccer experience.
With such a young defense in front of her, Zambo has seen a lot of action, recording 28 saves in a game against Buckeye earlier this season.
Stokley still has a pair of pins in her finger but hopes to return to the team prior to the end of the regular season.
