The vote was 999 in favor and 346 against, a 74 percent to 26 percent margin, according to Tim Rowe, Local 2000 chairman.
Rowe said about 1,000 of the approximately 1.766 hourly workers voted Sunday at Lorain High School with the rest voting at the Avon Lake plant at 650 Miller Road on Tuesday.
“We understand with the economy these days we’re not going to get everything we want,” Rowe said. “I’m really proud of my membership.”
At least 62 percent of UAW workers nationally had voted for the plan Tuesday night, according to the Detroit Free-Press.
