ELYRIA — A North Ridgeville man pleaded guilty Monday to numerous charges stemming from a high-speed chase after an attack on a police officer.
Randy Flachbart Jr. could receive prison time when he is sentenced later this year on charges of failure to comply, assault, obstructing official business, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, possession of drug abuse paraphernalia and DUI.
North Ridgeville police pulled over Flachbart on Dec. 9 on Chestnut Ridge Road near the western city limits after spotting his car driving erratically.
Police reported that Flachbart struck an officer in the throat and head before getting back in his car and speeding off.
The car stopped after driving over spiked strips officers set up on Sugar Ridge Road, but Flachbart got out and fled on foot.
Officers reported that a police dog was used to capture and subdue Flachbart.
