Father indicted in incident that left infant with fractured skull

ELYRIA — The father who allegedly fractured the skull of his infant son during a domestic dispute with the boy’s mother has been indicted on charges of endangering children and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and two counts of domestic violence.

Victor Cabrera-Zamora, 23, was trying to leave the woman’s Avon Lake home when he fell down some stairs and fell against a piano while holding the baby, according to Avon Lake police. The child struck his head on the piano and was bleeding when officers arrived.

Cabrera-Zamora was arrested after police arrived and officers later found a loaded AK-47 assault rifle in his car.

Although court records list a Washington state address for Cabrera-Zamora, police have said they suspect he might be in the country illegally. He remains in Lorain County Jail.
