Motorcyclist involved in crash has died

ELYRIA — The motorcyclist involved in a crash around 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Gateway Boulevard and Second Street has died.

North Ridgeville resident Paul M. Centric, 61, was pronounced dead at 10:28 p.m. Saturday at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, according to the Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office. Centric was struck by a station wagon driven by James M. Wiley, of Elyria, who was uninjured, police said.

Lt. Phil Hammonds, a traffic division supervisor, said Sunday that he didn’t know whether Centric or Wiley ran a red light causing the crash. Hammonds said no charges have been filed, but the accident remains under investigation. The crash report was unavailable Sunday night.
