Luanne “Lulu” Varndell (nee Gill), 59, of Elyria, passed away Sunday morning, January 15, 2012 at her home with her loving husband at her side following a two year illness. Born November 30, 1952, in Elyria to Eloise Gill (nee Burtnett) and the late Gilbert Gill. She had resided in Elyria her whole life.
Lulu graduated from Elyria High School in 1970, a member of the National Honor Society. She received her bachelors in education from Bowling Green State University before receiving her masters in education from Kent State University. Mrs. Varndell retired in 2006 from Learwood Middle School, in Avon Lake after 32 years, where she was a librarian. She was a loving wife, caring stepmother and madly in love with her dogs. Her passions included swimming, jogging, antiquing with her husband, reading, going on many cruises, and keeping close contact with her many friends.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Chris Varndell; her mother-in-law, MaryLou (Dale) Yost of Elyria; stepsons, Matt (Laurie) Varndell of Vermilion and Ryan (Betsy) Varndell of Wellington; grandchildren, Mason Rogozinski, Garrett, Gavin, Liam, Cole, and Zachery Varndell; brother, Charles (Debra) Gill of Myrtle Beach North Carolina; sister, Cheryl Gill (John) Jeter of Russellville, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 P.M. at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd, N. Ridgeville, where services will be held 10 A.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2012, Reverend Roger Loomis will officiate. Burial to follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
