AMHERST TWP. — Two women were LifeFlighted following an accident yesterday on state Route 58, according to the State Highway Patrol.
The patrol responded at 11:46 a.m. to state Route 58 in Amherst Township, according to a news release.
Patricia Ashby, 59, of Oberlin, was northbound in a 2001 Ford Escort, and Helen Taylor, 78, of Oberlin, was southbound in a 2001 Honda Accord.
Taylor went left of center, according to the Highway Patrol, and the vehicles collided head on.
Both Ashby and Taylor were taken by LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. They were both listed in critical condition this morning.
Ashby was wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol, and it is unclear if Taylor was.
Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, according to the Highway Patrol.
