Police investigating Facebook comments at Brookside

SHEFFIELD — Sheffield police are investigating Facebook comments involving Brookside High School students, according to a statement from the superintendent on the district’s website.

In the incident, “inappropriate statements directed toward certain students” were posted to Facebook, according to Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Superintendent Will Folger’s statement.

Folger said he believed the post was made last week or last weekend, and it was brought to the attention of school officials this week.

The statement dispelled rumors that there had been bomb threats or threats of shootings: “None of the information on the Facebook page suggests anything approaching bomb threats, shootings, etc.”

The school district is working with police and asks anyone with information to contact Sheffield police at 949-6155.
