
Bert Forest Riley, 77, of North Ridgeville, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at EMH Healthcare, following a short illness. He was born in Cowen, West Virginia and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 48 years moving from Olmsted Falls. He also lived in Akron.
Bert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a supervisor in air freight for C.F. Air for 20 years, retiring in 2002. He previously worked as a ramp agent for Eastern Airlines for 20 years.
He was a former member of VFW Post 9871 in North Ridgeville and American Legion in Akron. He enjoyed word and jigsaw puzzles, fishing, and working in his yard.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dorothy (nee Tharp); daughter, Lori (Cliff) Chilcott of Mulberry, Florida; sons, Randy (Stacey) of South Amherst, Jeff of North Ridgeville; grandchildren, Jennifer Hunley, Jessica Widener, Cassie Riley, Sara Shuman, Kaylie Chilcott; six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Amy Riley; brothers, Jim, Jack and Allen; sister, Jane Funkhouser.
A memorial service will be held 3 P.M., Sunday, March 26, 2012 at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate. Private burial in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
