Dorothy E. Butcher, 89, of Spencer, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012, at Hospice of Visiting Nurse in Akron. She was born in Chatham, December 23, 1922 to Matthew and Doris Cleveland Logan, and was a 1940 graduate of Spencer High School.
Mrs. Butcher was a lifetime resident of Spencer, and had worked as a teller for 22 years at the Farmers Savings Bank in Spencer. She was a member of the Spencer United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women, Spencer Pythian Sisters, and Tuesday Morning Group. She had enjoyed playing dominos, reading, sewing and quilting.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (David) Reisinger of Spencer, Linda (William) Albrecht of Penfield, Hope (Gene) Clifford of Spencer; son, Gene (Carol) Butcher of Spencer; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters; sister, Elsie Baldwin of LaGrange; step-brother, Lee (Wilma) White of Elyria; sister-in-law, Mae Logan of Oberlin; and brother-in-law, Henry Puhr of Marion
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence in 1991, whom she married May 28, 1940; and brothers, Matt and Ben Logan.
A Celebration of Life will be Friday, April 6, 2012 at 11 A.M., at the Spencer United Methodist Church, 201 East Main St., Spencer. Rev. Dr. Tim Morrison will officiate. Burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.
