Robert “Bob” Lyons, 65, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. Bob was born January 25, 1947 in Elyria, and lived in Hilliard for the past 15+ years. He was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School, class of 1965.
A man of many talents, Bob was in sales, advertising, the general manager of TV Station 8 in Columbus, and the owner of Vacation Time Travel in Columbus for 15 years. He previously was employed by Bendix Westinghouse in Elyria for 10 years. Bob was the President of the Board of Hilliard Heights Condos.
Bob’s family was the most important thing in his life, and he was very active in his children’s lives, especially BMX Bicycle Motocross. He touched the lives of many, and loved to help people.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (nee Blankenship); two sons, Brad of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Todd of Huntington Beach, California; one daughter, Brenda Lyons of Anaheim, California; and one grandson, Myles Lyons-Spina. Also surviving are a sister, Bea (Tom) Webb of Sheffield Village; a brother, Jim Lyons of Columbus; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary (LaCrosse) Lyons; and a sister, Mary Jo Lyons.
Bob donated his body to OSU to be used for research and teaching purposes.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a date to be announced later this summer.
