Cigarette leads to teen theft suspects

GRAFTON TWP. — A Newport cigarette butt found at the scene of a burglary called in around 10:45 a.m. Sunday in the 170000 block of Chamberlain Road led to the arrest of suspect Tim Logar III, according to Deputy James Kilpatrick’s report.

Homeowner Ryan Honoshofsky said Logar was a fired former employee who smoked Newports and drove a white sport utility vehicle seen parked in a neighbor’s driveway overnight.

After coming to the Sheriff’s Office, Logar said he and two 17-year-old boys took part in the burglary, Kilpatrick wrote. Two computers, a rifle, two pistols and a television were stolen in the heist.

Logar, 18, of the 5300 block of Pin Oak Circle in Sheffield, and the two boys were charged with burglary and theft. One of the boys said he and the other boy sold one of the computers and the pistols to a man on Fifth Street in Elyria on Sunday for about $30 and a bunch of what turned out to be Monopoly money.

Logar was being held early today at the Lorain County Jail and is scheduled for an appearance in Elyria Municipal Court by video this morning.
