The 2012 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization begins May 21st to promote seat belt use and help save lives by cracking down on those who don’t buckle up. Lorain County law enforcement has announced their involvement in this year’s campaign and will be working in collaboration with the Lorain County Safe Community Coalition to create a highly visible campaign.
To create a wide-spread and noticeable campaign, agencies, schools, businesses and law enforcement will be teaming up to promote life saving messages.
The Coalition will kick-off the Click it or Ticket Mobilization on Wednesday, May 9th 2012 at Premier Toyota in Amherst. The Coalition will highlight the extraordinary seat belt efforts from Brookside high school in Sheffield Village, Amherst Police Department Lorain County JVS, AAA East Central Safety Department, and Lorain County Community College.
Kick-off attendees will be provided with tools, materials and messages to assist with the county wide campaign. A traveling seat belt chair, donated by the UAW Local 2000 and assembled by the Lorain County JVS, will be unveiled and available for county-wide use at the kick-off; the community will be encouraged to request the seat for use at their school, worksite, agency or organization.
Seat belt use saves thousands of lives across America each year, and according to NHTSA seat belts saved an estimated 12,546 lives nationwide in 2010. As you travel Lorain County roads, make the life-saving decision to buckle up—every trip—every time.
