CARLISLE TWP. — A motorcyclist was injured after police said he missed a curve and crashed into a ditch around 4:40 p.m. Saturday on West Ridge Road near Butternut Ridge Road.
Ray A. Johnson was wearing a helmet when he was thrown from the motorcycle, according to a supervisor at the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Elyria post. Ohio law doesn’t require motorcyclists wear helmets, but police recommend wearing them for safety.
Johnson, 47, of the 41000 block of Jones Road in Wellington, was treated and released from MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
Johnson wasn’t charged, but the accident remains under investigation, the patrol said.
