Kenneth R. Mick

Kenneth R. Mick, 75, of Lorain, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Specialty Hospital in Amherst, after a lengthy illness. He was born February 14, 1937 in Gassaway, West Virginia and had resided in Lorain since 1954.

Ken worked in sales and service at Willow True Value Hardware in Lorain, until it closed. He was a member of Tower Baptist Church in Lorain, where he drove the church bus throughout the city of Lorain to bring children and adults to church for over 20 years. He dedicated his life to Christ and was a great family man and husband, and loved to fish.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Mardella (nee Pierson); children, Alvin (Deborah) Mick of Lorain, Beverly (Graylyn) Davis of LaGrange and Tammy (Todd) Shanklin of Dayton; grandchildren, Brian Davis, Christy Samms and Amanda Szmania; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Frederick Mick of Eubank, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Mary Luella Mick (nee Humphrey); and sister, Martha Perkins.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 13, 2012, from 4 until 6 P.M., at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain, and Monday, May 14, 2012, from 10:30 A.M., until the time of funeral services at 11 P.M., at Tower Baptist Church, 1331 Tower Blvd., Lorain. The Reverend Gary Dorsey, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
