Keystone is one win from its third state championship and a perfect season.
The Wildcats (31-0) beat Poland Seminary 4-0 this afternoon in a rain-delayed Division II state semifinal at Firestone Stadium in Akron.
No. 1-ranked Keystone will face No. 4 Greenville at 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Wildcats got revenge over second-ranked Poland Seminary, which beat Keystone 4-0 last year to win the state title. The Wildcats scored one run in the fourth inning, then added three huge runs in the fifth before rain stopped the game for about an hour and 45 minutes.
Erin Pond, who scored the game’s first run in the fourth inning, drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single. The fourth run scored on a wild pitch with Mallory Nagy at the plate.
Pitcher Kenzie Conrad got stronger as the game progressed and blanked Poland Seminary.
