Eugene “Gene” Alfred Bryan, 84, of Sullivan, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at his home. He was born November 27, 1927 in Nova, son of the late Alfred and Bessie (Wells) Bryan. Gene was a lifelong resident of the Nova and Sullivan areas.
He graduated from Nova High School in 1945. Gene served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. After his service duty he worked for Fuhrman Ford in West Salem and several other Ford dealerships in the area for 40 years.
Survived by his children, Pam (Jim) Gribben of Ashland and Chris (Dorothy) Bryan of Sullivan; grandchildren, Bryan Gribben of Columbus, Jenna (Jeffrey) Steiner of Ashland and Haley Silves of Sullivan; siblings, Mary Jane Rhoads of McMormick, South Carolina and Shirley (David) Gast of Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Bryan in 1999; son, Ronald Bryan in 1969; brother, Virgil Bryan; sisters, Mildred Smetzer and Opal Kerr and felines, C.C. and Pierre.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 P.M., Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London. A graveside service with military rites will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, June 25, 2012 at Sullivan Southview Cemetery with Rev. Tim Craver officiating.
