Leroy R. Urig

Leroy R. Urig, 78, of Starke/Lake City, Florida, and formerly of Wellington, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City, after a brief illness. Mr. Urig was born May 25, 1934 in Avon, to the late Leonard and Caroline (nee Guelker) Urig.

Prior to retirement, he worked for the Ford Motor Company Brook Park Foundry for 30+ years. He owned and operated Urig Landscaping and Lawn service. was a life long farmer in Lorain County and an avid gardener.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline (nee Sutton) Urig of Lake City, Florida; sons, Randy Urig of Jackson, Tennessee, Ronald Urig of Sandusky, Mark Urig of Burlington, North Carolina; daughters, Deborah Hobson of Morristown, Tennessee, Ellen Fowler of Lake City, Florida, Connie Surface of Lithia, Florida, Norma Urig of Starke, Florida, Rhonda Toste of Sanford, North Carolina; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Leroy was preceded in death by his wives, Barbara (nee Szmanski) and Nancy (nee Cole); siblings, Kenneth Sr., Jean Moran, Geraldine Slumska, Elaine Gill, and Walter Urig.

The Graveside Funeral Service for Mr. Urig was Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Key Stone Heights Cemetery, Florida. Reverend Dennis White officiated. There was no stranger to Mr. Uring or one that went hungry.
