Louis A. Balogh, 76, of Amherst, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 at EMH Healthcare in Elyria, following a brief illness. He was born in Lorain on February 11, 1936 and had been a resident of Lorain County for most of his life.
Louis was a graduate of Lorain High School who retired from U.S. Steel in Lorain, where he had worked as a Rotary Furnace Operator. He Proudly served his Country in the U.S. Army. Louis was an Associate Member of the VFW in Lorain who enjoyed tinkering with different projects and socializing.
Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Julie (nee Mutchmore) Balogh; sisters, Evelyn Balogh of Akron, Ida (Allan) Sadowski of Lorain and Kathleen (Bruce) Comrie of Elyria; brother, Stephen (Loretta) Balogh of Vermilion and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Yolanda (nee Farkas) Balogh; and by his brother, Frank J. Balogh.
Friends may call Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at 1 P.M. at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Road, Sheffield Township. The Rev. Jay Roller, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial with Full Military Honors provided by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 20 of Lorain, will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
