Metta Elizabeth Sprague

Metta Elizabeth Sprague, 96, of Oberlin, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, in Dayton. She was born July 25, 1915, in Oberlin, to the late Richard and Elizabeth (nee Pfaff) Clark.

Metta was a 1933 graduate of Oberlin High School. Metta worked along side her husband, Max, on the family farm and later worked at Gilford Instruments in Oberlin, making medical instruments.

In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and would enter her arrangements in the county fair, along with many of her baked goods for which she won many ribbons. Metta also liked to bowl and was fond of animals. Her family was very dear to her and she cherished time with them. Metta attended the East Oberlin Church and was a member of the Pythian Sisters.

Metta is survived by her children, Max Sprague, Don (Shirley) Sprague, and Eleanor (Myron) Knapp; grandchildren, Jason and Kyle Knapp, Laura (Mike) Neuwirth, and Ian and Zachary Sprague; great-grandchildren, Brandon Knapp, Joseph Neuwirth and Sierra Sprague.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell Winfield Sprague; sisters, Eleanor Clark and Evelyn Clark; and a brother, Richard Frank Clark, Jr.

Friends and Family will gather for a 10 A.M. graveside service Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Camden Cemetery, with Reverend Tina Siroki officiating.
