Police log for July 13, 2012

Lorain police

Wednesday, July 11

9:11 a.m. — 2800 block Cromwell Ave., Miguel Castillo, 61, same address, charged with domestic violence, but not arrested. Castillo’s girlfriend said he put a knife to her throat and kicked her until she was unconscious. The woman, whom police said had bruises on her right eye, left arms and midsection, said Castillo became angry over being impotent and accused her of infidelity. Police said Castillo wasn’t home when they arrived but the woman later called them and played voicemails for them in which they said Castillo threatened to kill her.

5:11 p.m. — Police Department, 100 W. Erie Ave., boy said he was choked by a woman at the Central Park pool at 2750 Oakdale Ave. after arguing with one of her sons. The boy said the woman threatened to kill him, “if you touch my boys.”

Thursday, July 12

3:22 a.m. — Rags Wine and Beverage, 1089 Meister Road, window broken, at least one bottle of Scotch Whiskey stolen.

3:26 a.m. — Double A Food Mart, 4450 Oberlin Ave., front window of store broken, up to $1,500 in coins stolen. Store video shows a black man with a thin build wearing all dark clothing and with a white T-shirt wrapped around his face climbing over security bars and into the store. The video also shows a tall white man enter the store.

Thursday, July 5

9:45 p.m. — 700 block Hayes, fireworks complaint.

Friday, July 6

1:30 a.m. — Community Park, officers observed a vehicle parked in the park where they found a male and female juvenile in back seat. They advised officers they were just talking. The female juvenile was transported home at request of her parent.

Saturday, July 7

7:23 a.m. — 400 block U.S. Grant St., resident complained that someone is stealing water from a construction site. Officers found they had permission from contractor.

Tuesday, July 10

8:15 p.m. — West Main Street, Timothy Shroyer Jr., 34, of Grafton, was arrested and charged with marked lane violation, DUI, prohibited blood-alcohol concentration 0.292 percent and no driver’s license.

Monday, July 2

4:30 p.m. — Grafton Police Department, a woman spoke with an officer because she was upset that her ex-husband’s girlfriend was calling her constantly. The woman has told her repeatedly to stop calling and texting and she continues to do so. An officer spoke with the girlfriend advising her not to contact the ex-wife.

11:29 p.m. — 1100 Elm St., a house that is up for auction had lights going on and off. The officer believes a timer was on.
Tuesday, July 3

9:39 p.m. — Wellfleet Drive, juveniles breaking bottles. The mess was cleaned up.

9:52 p.m. — FirstMerit Bank, 432 Main St., report of a “suspicious orange piece of plastic covering the card reader on the ATM.” It was the guard to keep debris out.

10 p.m. — 1000 block Sunshine Court, a woman kept hearing “things tap on her house.” An officer found a man in the area with no shirt on.

11:05 p.m. — Hickory and Elm streets, fireworks complaint.

Wednesday, July 4

12:39 p.m. — 700 block Main St., truck keyed.

9:13 p.m. — 1000 block Wellfleet Drive, juveniles with sparklers.

11:43 p.m. — Willow Street, five juveniles were seen looking into a vacant house.

Saturday, July 7

8:24 a.m. — Our Lady Queen of Peace, 708 Erie St., flag stolen from flag pole.

Sunday, July 8

8:30 p.m. — 1000 block Greenwich Ave., juveniles throwing rocks. Parents advised and handled discipline.
