LORAIN — Unlike Goldilocks, Aaron R. Smith isn’t accused of sampling someone else’s porridge or sitting in someone else’s chair, but he was sleeping in someone else’s bed.
Smith, 30, of the 1800 block of Middle Avenue in Elyria, will be sleeping at the Lorain City Jail for the next few days after being convicted Thursday of trespassing and sentenced to 30 days imprisonment with 25 days suspended.
The incident began around 2:40 a.m. Wednesday in a home in the 1800 block of East 37th Street — not in a forest, according to a police report.
Resident Chad Buchanan said he was doing laundry in the basement of the home when he heard a side door open and saw Smith walk by, police said.
Buchanan said he found Smith, who he said had slurred speech and reeked of alcohol, lying in his bed. Smith told him he thought he was at a friend’s house before running out of the home. Smith admitted to drinking and having no idea where he was after being arrested, police said.
