Ernest (Ernie) L. Webb, 74 years old, of Elyria, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his home, following a one year illness. Ernie was born in Spring City, Tennessee, April 17, 1938 and lived in Elyria all of his life.
Ernie retired from York International in Elyria after 43 years of service and retired recently from the Chronicle Telegram after 10 years of service. He was a member of Alcoholic Anonymous for 31 years. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball in the 1960s and 1970′s and also enjoyed playing basketball.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Carole (nee Slavin) Webb of Elyria; one daughter, Kathy (John) Francis of Elyria; and one son, Chris Webb of Elyria; two granddaughters, Jennifer Francis and Ashley Francis, both of Elyria; and three great-grandchildren, Alivia Pinter, Kavon and Kaliya Patterson. He is also survived by one sister, Irene Dugger of Clyde, Ohio; and two brothers, Tom Webb and Earl Webb, both of Elyria.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, William and Annabell (nee Reed) Webb.
Chapel services will be held at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria, Monday, July 23, 2012, at 12 Noon. Please wear Ernie’s favorite color, red. The family would like to thank all friends and neighbors for their kindness and support and also New Life Hospice for their care.
