FLORENCE, Ky. — The Lake Erie Crushers five-game winning streak came to an end Sunday as they lost 5-2 to the Florence Freedom.
The Crushers (31-26) left four men on base in the first two innings, but took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning thanks to Adrian Ortiz’s bases-loaded single with two outs.
Daniel Bowman hit a one-out single to begin the sixth inning, then Florence pitcher Brandon Mathes issued walks to Robby Kuzdale and Brian Erie.
Ben Klapfczynski (2-1) took the loss for the Crushers, while J.C. Figueroa led the offensive attack with three singles in five at-bats. Erie had two singles.
