ELYRIA — A Lorain man was stabbed Monday, but police said the man refused to say how the stabbing occurred.
At 8:39 p.m. Monday, police followed a vehicle to EMH Medical Center in Elyria. Police said the vehicle drove through a red light and turned into the emergency room parking lot. According to a police report, the car’s interior was covered with a moderate amount of blood, and the passenger was transferred to the emergency room for a stab wound to his shoulder.
The patient, Brandon Epps, 21, told police he was walking in the area of Convenient Food Mart on West Ridge Road when he was stabbed by a man who tried to rob him.
Police didn’t believe Epps’ story after talking to his friend who drove him to the hospital.
According to the friend, Brandon Bailey, the two traveled to the area of Turner Boulevard near Convenient Food Mart to meet Epps’ “friend.” Bailey said Epps was inside an apartment for a short time when he came running toward the vehicle, saying he was stabbed.
According to the report, police believed the incident was drug- or money-related, but Bailey would not give any further information.
