Sharon L. Hyde, 69, (nee Dixon) of Lorain passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a prolonged illness. Mrs. Hyde was born in Hollywood, Florida on March 20, 1943, the daughter of the late Frank E. and Pearl E. (nee Brogan) Dixon.
She was a graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida class of 1961, Jackson Memorial Nursing School in Miami, Florida and Baldwin Wallace College in 1991 with a bachelors degree in education. Mrs. Hyde’s working career began as a registered nurse working at several out of state hospitals before moving to Lorain in 1977. She was a labor and delivery nurse at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital and taught Lamaze to expectant parents.
Following her retirement from nursing, she was a teacher at Southview High School; teaching in the speech and English departments. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, cofounder and member of the Lorain High School Choir Boosters and Admiral King High School Choir Boosters, and a member of the King’s Society at Mercy Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Hyde enjoyed arts and crafts, floral arranging, reading, scrap booking and shopping.
She is survived by a daughter, Shelly J. (Eric) Czatt, of Lorain; grandsons, Kyle and Wesley Czatt; sisters, Sally D. (Paul) Fuzy of Marshfield, Missouri, Ellen L. (Russell) Bailey of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and a brother, Douglas W. Dixon of St. John’s, Florida.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 11 A.M. in the Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road, Lorain, with Rev. Matthew Darrin, Rev. Mark Pemberton, and Chaplain Charles Boals officiating.
