Police log for July 27, 2012

Elyria police

Tuesday, July 24

6:59 a.m. — 200 block Mockingbird Lane, reported stolen vehicle. A woman reported her 2007 Chevy Trailblazer was stolen from in front of her apartment.

7:46 a.m. — 41000 block Griswold Road, reported breaking and entering of Willoughby Supply. A man reported that the fence around the building had been cut, and several boxes of roofing material were missing.

Lorain police

Tuesday, July 24

3:22 a.m. — 5700 block Gargasz Drive, a woman reported that she heard a loud bang and two voices outside her kitchen window. Police said the woman’s screen was pulled off her window and lying on the ground. Police said no suspects were located.

6 a.m. — Broadway and E. 23rd St., police said a man was walking through the LifeCare employee parking lot with a small bag, looking in vehicles’ windows. The man reportedly fled after police confronted him. Police identified the man, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Wednesday, July 25

1:49 p.m. — 2300 block of Westview Ct., Daniel D. Eville, Jr., 24, same address, arrested and charged with child endangering and domestic violence. The mother of Eville’s child said Eville assaulted her and then left the area in a vehicle without properly restraining the child. Eville said the woman assaulted him and the two fought over the child’s car seat before he and the child drove away without a child restraint.

4:48 p.m. — 8000 block N. Oaktree Drive, a resident said he observed smoke rising from the southeast corner of his home and put a yard fire out with a garden hose. Police did not observe any accelerants in the area, but deemed the fire suspicious and sent a report to the Lorain Fire Department to investigate.

5:14 p.m. —1000 block W. 9th St., reported theft of a dog house. A woman said she saw two males, wearing bright yellow t-shirts and driving a black or blue truck, take the dog house.

3:58 p.m. — 2300 block Washington Ave., reported burglary of a residence.

LaGrange police

Tuesday, July 17

10:30 p.m. – 300 block Hendrix, officers observed a suspicious vehicle parked facing the wrong direction. Officers located three juveniles who stated they were “looking for golf balls.”

Wednesday, July 18

3:05 a.m. – West Main, gun shots heard.

7:35 a.m. – West Main, Nancey Ward, LaGrange, charged with improper passing.

5:25 p.m. – East Main, report of a person standing inside the crossing gate while a train was passing.

Saturday, July 21

11:30 p.m. – 300 block East Main, female knocking on apartment doors and looking in windows. The female could not be located when officers arrived.

10:40 p.m. – 100 block Public Square, chair in front of business broken.

Sunday, July 22

9:40 p.m. – Parklane, firework complaint.

Monday, July 23

9:38 p.m. – 300 block East Main, burglary. Resident advised that someone pried open a window and stole a TV.

Tuesday, July 24

12:35 a.m. – Keywood, officers observed two people standing in a field. They told officers they were looking for a lost cell phone.

4:30 p.m. – IGA, William Knafel, 57, of LaGrange, charged with theft after employees observed him putting a package of meat in his pants.

Grafton police

Tuesday, July 17

4 p.m. – 1000 block Elm, woman annoyed that a company continually calls her asking her about a situation with her neighbor that she knows nothing about. An officer spoke with the company and then contacted the neighbor who agreed she’d call the company.

Friday, July 20

11:50 a.m. – 1000 block Cleveland St., a woman stated she wanted her son and his girlfriend out of her house because she believed that he is doing something illegal in her house.

Saturday, July 21

8:16 a.m. – 1000 block Jamie Court, suspicious door-bell ringing. Resident requested extra patrol.

Sunday, July 22

1:45 p.m. – 1000 block Novak, woman called the police station after she thought her children were hurting each other. An officer spoke with the father and everything is OK; the boys were just arguing with each other.

5:53 p.m. – 1000 block Novak, four juveniles were “kicked out of McDonald’s for doing nothing” and a worker challenged one of them in the parking lot. The officer spoke with the manager, and their accounts did not match.
