Louie D. Flatt, 76, of Elyria, died Friday, August 3, 2012 at his home. He was born August 17, 1935 in Loretto, Tennessee and has been a resident of Elyria for over 45 years.
Louie was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed for 35 years as a tool maker at Ridge Tool Company, retiring in 2000. He had been an avid bowler and softball player.
Louie is survived by his daughters, Kimberly A. Flatt, Jennifer L. Flatt and Michele M. (George) Fields, all of Elyria; grandchildren, Brittany, Seth and Spencer Travis, Mikaela Flat, Taylor, McKenna, Andrew, Michael and Tiffany Fields; great-granddaughter, Leia Fields; sisters, Glenda Franklin of West Point, Tennessee and Laura Prince of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Catherine M. (nee Serozi) in 2010; daughter, Susan; parents, Linzie and Sleetie Flatt; brothers, Edward and Onis; and a sister, Estelle Sherrell.
Friends will be received Monday, August 6, 2012 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A service will be Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home, with burial in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
