ELYRIA — Two inmates walked away from the Lorain/Medina Community Based Correctional Facility last night and have not yet been found, sheriff’s Capt. James Drozdowski said this morning.
“They took the trash out and decided to keep walking,” Drozdowski said. He described the facility, which is next door to the Sheriff’s Office on Murray Ridge Road, as “very minimum security.”
He identified the inmates as Brandon Bokar and Brian Long, but he didn’t immediately have information on their ages, their cities of residence or what crimes they were incarcerated for.
Sheriff’s deputies responded with a dog to look for the men after receiving a call about 10:15 last night, he said. This morning, the Sheriff’s Office has issued warrants for their arrest.
According to Drozdowski, it is believed the men went behind a warehouse, possibly into the field.
“It’s not the first time this has happened,” Drozdowski said. “Once they determine these people walked away, they call us.”
