At 5:02 a.m. Saturday, police were sent to the 1000 block of Long Avenue.

According to a report, police met with one of the alleged victims, Stephanie Whetstone, 21, of Lorain, who said she escaped from the home, and her friend, Brooke Mowery, 26, was being held hostage by her boyfriend “Smoke.”

Whetstone said Smoke had a handgun and had trapped her in the bathroom of the home for two to three hours before eventually allowing her to leave. She said the three went out that night for drinks and returned to the home to have a sexual encounter when Smoke got mad and assaulted Mowery after they asked him to wear a condom.

Police established a perimeter around the house and attempted to contact Mowery. Officers then arrested a man, later identified as Qudo Grant, 35, who police know as “Smoke,” walking out of a side door of the home.

Police found Mowery inside the residence and said she was visibly injured, with a black eye and several cuts and bruises. Mowery denied Grant had been in the home and later told police she was with Grant and a woman named Brittany in the home, and she sustained her injuries from dancing at the bar.

According to the report, police found a loaded firearm in a nightstand and a used condom on the dresser. A bag of marijuana was found in Grant’s pant pocket, according to police.

Police said the doorway to Mowery’s bedroom was broken in half and lying under the bed, and the door to the bathroom was also broken and appeared to have been punched.

Grant was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful resisting arrest, inducing panic, domestic violence, obstructing official business, having weapons under disability, possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia, aggravated menacing, two counts of abduction and disrupting public service.

Police said Grant had two prior convictions for carrying a concealed weapon, a weapons under disability conviction in 2009 and a domestic violence conviction in 1999. He was taken to Lorain City Jail.
