Police log for Aug. 7, 2012

Elyria police

Saturday Aug. 4

6:46 a.m. — 100 block Golfway Trail, rear window of Jeep parked in resident’s parking lot shattered. Resident suspects a friend of his son who had just gotten in an argument with his son and was picking up his bicycle in the area.

9:30 a.m. — 300 block 15th St., vehicle stolen from the 600 block Nelson Street found with ignition broken, allowing it to be started without a key, stereo speakers stolen from vehicle.

Sunday, Aug. 5

3:30 a.m. — 100 block Beebe Ave., Matthew Kantura, 18, 300 block High St., Elyria, arrested and charged with breaking and entering and underage drinking. Police said they found Kantura drunk and rummaging through a car in a garage that had been broken into.

11:37 a.m. — 100 block Denison Ave., theft of bicycle from home.

5:58 p.m. — 100 block West Ave., theft of a wrist wallet from a vehicle.

11:26 p.m. — West Avenue near 15th Street, Desiree J. Wallace, 19, Oberlin, arrested and charged with improper handling of a firearm, and Joseph Huff, 18, 100 block Ridge Court, arrested and charged with improper handling of a firearm and discharging of a firearm. A 17-year-old also was arrested and charged with improper handling of a firearm, discharging of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. Police were called for shots fired and saw a white Pontiac Grand Am leaving the scene. The vehicle was searched and two handguns were found in the glove compartment. Police also found several spent .22-caliber casings on Wood Street.

Monday, Aug. 6

5 a.m. — 100 block West Ave., reported criminal damaging of a vehicle. A woman said there were several dents and scrapes on her vehicle, which was parked in the 400 block of Middle Ave., and a gouge in the windshield.

Thursday, Aug. 2

4:30 a.m. — 800 block Harriet St., Sheffield Township, resident said water poured into gas tank of vehicle parked in driveway.

Saturday, Aug 4

4:31 p.m. — Westwood Mobile Home Park, 184 Branch St., Amherst Township, Heather Cremeans, 42, same address, arrested and charged with domestic violence. Cremeans’ husband said she punched him two or three times in the face and pulled him off their bed by his ankles. Heather Cremeans admitted to pulling her husband off the bed by his ankles but denied punching him, police said. She said her husband was drunk while taking care of their baby son and she demanded he leave their home.

Friday, July 27

11:41 a.m. — South Shore Court, Jeffrey Wolfgang, 36, same address, arrested and charged with assault. Two juveniles also arrested and charged with assault. Greg Lowder, 23, said Wolfgang and the two juveniles attacked him while he was entering his apartment, and a juvenile repeatedly kicked him in the ribs before he ran away to call police. Wolfgang told police he should not attacked Lowder but he did so after Lowder attacked his son.

4:56 p.m. — 4600 block Liberty Ave., police called to the area for a vehicle that struck a bicycle at Crystal Plaza. No injuries were reported.

7:02 p.m. — 1100 block Vermilion Road, reported criminal damaging of a vehicle.

12:13 p.m. — 5100 block South Street, reported theft of a vehicle.

Sunday, July 29

11:37 p.m. — West River Road, reported theft of money from the Vermilion Port Authority.

12:57 p.m. — 4400 block Liberty Ave., reported theft from a vehicle.

Monday, July 30

12:49 a.m. — State and Haley streets, driver arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, no name given. Police said a search of the driver’s car found three oxycodone and hydrochloride pills.

10:36 a.m. — 500 block Main St., reported hit skip occurring overnight. Police said there were three witnesses who helped identify a suspect.

Wednesday, August 1

6:25 p.m. — 600 block Blossom Drive, reported theft from a motor vehicle. The suspect reportedly took a gym bag full of clothes and sunglasses from the vehicle.

Saturday, August 4

11:54 p.m. — 200 block Church St., Charles Fleming arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct persisting and disturbing the peace. Police said Fleming was intoxicated and yelled at police. Police said Fleming also attempted to assault another man.

11:57 p.m. — North Leavitt Road and state Route 2, Jamie Haslage charged with operating a vehicle impaired and blood-alcohol content over .17 percent.

Sunday, August 5

12:24 a.m. — 200 block Park Ave., Theodore Aguayo arrested and charged with criminal damaging. Police said Aguayo broke the front glass door of Janik Law Office.

3:30 a.m. — 400 block Sunset Drive, Celeste Reeves charged with operating a vehicle impaired, blood-alcohol content more than .17 and failure to control. Reeves told police she wrecked her vehicle, but she did not know where she wrecked. Police said the woman’s car was found about 250 feet from her home, down an embankment and Reeves was intoxicated.
