Police log for Aug. 8, 2012

Elyria police

Monday, Aug. 6

2:45 p.m. — 300 block Fifth St., fraud complaint filed for 12 fradulent charges to Marco’s Pizza in Lorain, totaling $326.68. No suspect at this time.

11:33 p.m. — 200 block Crestview Drive, report of stolen GPS from unlocked vehicle. Neighbor reported seeing a white male, about 20 years old, wearing a brown shirt, and steanding about 6 feet tall walking from the driveway where the vehicle was located approximately 30 minutes before police arrived.

Tuesday, Aug. 7

12:27 a.m. — 1200 block East Ave., break-in reported by woman who had fallen asleep with her doors unlocked. Items missing include $110, unopened pack of cigarettes, nine antique toy cap guns with holsters valued at $200, and an orange Yamaha acoustic guitar in a black case valued at $200.

1:22 a.m. — 100 block Second St., Earlie Quinn, 40, 200 block Washington Ave., Elyria, charged with disorderly conduct in connection with a vehicle break-in. A woman told police a man fitting Quinn’s description broke into her vehicle, but no items were stolen. An officer said he saw Quinn attempting to hide three Speedway gift cards under the passenger seat of the officer’s vehicle. Police said additional charges may be filed against Quinn.

Lorain police

Monday, Aug. 6

10:15 p.m. — Twin Wells Mobile Home Park, 3946 Reid Ave., resident told police he had an incident with a man who works with his wife. The resident said the man wants to have a relationship with his wife and came by their home. He said the man pulled a knife out and said, “I’ll cut you. She will be mine” before running into the woods.

Tuesday, Aug. 7

3:20 a.m. — 800 block E. 35th St., Ruben Zamora Jr., 33, same address, arrested and charged with violation of a criminal protection order, trespassing and menacing. Zamora’s uncle told police Zamora tried to enter the uncle’s home and threatened to kill him. Police said they found Zamora leaving the backyard of the home and he was drunk.

6:13 a.m. — 1800 block Hamilton Ave., Mark McGinnis Jr., 24, homeless, arrested and charged with criminal damaging. Kayla Mucha, who has a child with McGinnis, said he kicked the garage door. McGinnis denied kicking the door on the outside saying Mucha locked him in and he kicked it from the inside to get out. Police said the damage was on the outside of the garage.

9:08 a.m. — 1500 block E. 31st St., tires of car parked overnight in front of home slashed.

Thursday, July 19

11:30 p.m. — 200 Gladys Court, complaint about violation of protection order forwarded to prosecutors.

Saturday, July 21

8:27 p.m. — 200 block W. Lorain St. theft reported from Mercy Allen Hospital.

9:47 p.m. — state Route 18 and U.S. Route 20, Amy E. Afifi, 30, of Elyria, charged with theft at Walmart.

Sunday, July 22

12:26 p.m. — Tappan Square at Oberlin College, Roger J. Perry, 23, of Oberlin, charged with receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct.

4:48 p.m. — state Route 18 and U.S. Route 20, Charity A. Rice, 31, of Ashland, charged with theft at Walmart.

Tuesday, July 24

7:12 a.m. — 100 block E. College St., police responded to report of someone sleeping in car at Eastwood Elementary School and discover a 17-year-old Minnesota runaway boy who allegedly stole a car and was driving to New York City.

12:20 p.m. — 400 Edgemeer Place, burglary reported with forced entry.

Wellington police

Friday, July 7

12:15 p.m. — 500 block S. Main St., someone stole a $900 Huskavarna 360 chain saw from a bed of a pickup at a gas station.

Tuesday, July 10

8:25 a.m. — 100 block Courtland St., police assist homeowner with surplus artillery cartridge left by a prior homeowner. The Lorain County Bomb Squad removed the cartridge, believed to be used for signaling or a ceremonial cannon firing.

6:13 p.m. — 600 block N. Main St., police take two boys, 12 and 13, to the Police Department after a man said he saw the boys damaging a fence at Wellington High School with baseball bats. The parents were called and the school might seek restitution.

Friday, July 13

9:48 a.m. — 500 block Dickson St., theft of Toshiba laptop worth $500 and three 10-gauge power cords valued at $500 from utility trailer.
