12-year-old girl arrested for assault on a police officer

EATON TWP. — A 12-year-old Eaton Township girl was arrested for assault on a police officer after she kicked a sheriff’s deputy twice yesterday evening.

Deputy Stephen Fuller was dispatched to a home on South Island Road about 6 p.m. because the girl had run away after being disciplined, according to a report from the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office.

Fuller began searching for the girl in Eaton Estates and, after speaking to other kids in the area, found her near the parking lot of Midview Plaza.

The girl began to run from Fuller, but he was able to grab her by the arm, the report said. As he was trying to calm her down, she stepped back and kicked him in the crotch, the report said. She then kicked him again as he was placing her under arrest.

According to the report, the entire time the girl was being taken into custody she was screaming “rape” and calling the deputy a psycho.

The girl’s mother told Fuller that about 4:30 p.m. she had confronted her daughter via text message about money that was missing from her purse. She added that the girl admitted to taking the money and was told to come home.

When the girl was told to go to her room because she was grounded, she left the home without permission, according to the report.

The girl was taken to the county Detention Home.
