Woman’s body found at Lorain apartment complex

LORAIN — The death of a woman at the Villas of Beau Monde apartment complex at 2102 Tower Blvd. between North Leavitt Road and Almaden Drive is under investigation by police.

A resident of the complex, who wouldn’t give her name, said that when she arrived home from work around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, police were searching a storage area by the laundry room in Building 2102.

The resident, who said she has lived in the complex since 2005, said she and other residents had noticed a foul odor in the building since the beginning of July. Another neighbor said police were at the complex when he arrived around 9 a.m.

Dr. Stephen Evans, Lorain County coroner, and police spokesman Lt. Mark Carpentiere wouldn’t identify the woman or a possible cause of death.

Police taped off an area by the entrance to the building, and a crime scene van remained on the scene around 8:15 p.m. as Carpentiere and other detectives went in and out of the building.

Carpentiere didn’t return calls late Wednesday.
