PITTSFIELD TWP. — Two people were taken to the hospital this morning after a one-car accident on state Route 20.
According to Sgt. Chris Midkiff of the State Highway Patrol, Daniela Babet, 26, of North Olmsted was driving westbound on 20 about a mile east of state Route 58 when she lost control of her car. She started to cross the center line and apparently overcompensated, driving off the right side of the road, striking a fence and a tree, he said. Midkiff said the crash occurred about 8:20 a.m.
Her passenger, Dustin Buerbey, 26, also of North Olmsted, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland by ambulance. Midkiff said he wasn’t sure what type of injuries he had and only observed a little blood on his arm. His condition was not immediately available.
Babet was taken by ambulance to Mercy Allen Hospital for chest injuries. A 3-year-old who was in the car, Maryssa Vales, was not hurt. Midkiff said the child is Babet’s daughter.
Midkiff wasn’t sure what caused the crash but said the road was a little wet at the time.
