Police say man pulled knife, was arrested for crack stash

An Elyria man who Elyria police said reached for a knife when they tried to arrest him around 11 a.m. Thursday outside his home in the 100 block of Mendel Court faces charges.

Police Officers Michael Groomes and Eric Grove said they pepper-sprayed Paul Wright when he struggled with them as he was getting into a car.

They said they seized almost 20 grams of crack cocaine from Wright. Wright, 21, was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing official business, tampering with evidence, possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

Wright is due in Elyria Municipal Court today and was being held Thursday night in lieu of a $24,500
