Teen says drunken friend stabbed him

LAGRANGE TWP. — A 17-year-old Oberlin youth who said he tried to stop a drunken friend from driving around 1 a.m. Saturday, ended up getting stabbed in his face.

The youth needed 10 stitches and suffered a chipped tooth in the stabbing, according to a report by the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office. The youth said he fought with Devin Deremiah outside a home at 18984 Indian Hollow Road. The youth said Deremiah kicked him in the chest and as he was getting up he was slashed in the face.

Deremiah was arrested without incident at his grandparents’ house in the 9800 block of Gifford Road in Henrietta Township around 4 p.m. Saturday. He had been released from EMH Medical Center in Elyria after threatening suicide earlier. Deremiah, 18, of Kipton, was charged with felonious assault and underage drinking.

Deremiah was being held in lieu of a $15,000 bond early this morning at Lorain County Jail. He is due in Elyria Municipal Court on Monday.
