Donald L. Hubbard, 84, a lifelong resident of Avon, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at EMH Healthcare, after a brief illness. Mr. Hubbard was born March 26, 1928, in Lorain, and graduated from Avon High School.
He served as Mayor of Avon from 1972-1979 and was active in Avon City Government from 1968-1994. Mr. Hubbard was a past member of Avon’s Lion Club. Donald also worked as an engineering assistant for B.F. Goodrich in Avon Lake, where he retired after 40 years.
Donald is survived by his children, Terry Wood (Kenneth) of Avon, Sandy Collins (Dennis) of Avon, and Bruce Hubbard (Carolyn) of Avon; seven grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Daniel, William, Sarah, Nicole, and Zachary; sister, Sis Wernert of Avon; and sister-in-law, Theresa Hubbard of Avon.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Edna J.; parents, Harry and Edna (nee Wilcox); brothers, Eugene, Erwin, Lee, Glenn Hubbard; and sister, Gladys Buck.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Road, Avon, from 3 until 7 P.M., Sunday, August 19, 2012. Service will be at the funeral home Monday, August 20, 2012, at 10 A.M., with Reverend Liz Krall presiding. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Avon.
