Darlene May Woodrum (nee Mellon), 64, of Lorain, passed away Thursday, August 16 2012 at home, with her husband by her side. Born August 18, 1947 on Florida Avenue in Lorain. She moved to Sheffield shortly after her birth until 1969.
She was a graduate of Brookside High School, Class of 1965. She completed a degree in business from Sawyer in Cleveland. For 10 years, Darlene was an Asst. Manager and Manager for Clark Oil and Refinery.
She was an avid league bowler and liked ceramics. In the early 90′s, Darlene and her husband loved to travel and dine out often. In 1996, Darlene sustained injury from an accident that kept her at home. Her husband was the main caregiver, along with help from family friends Bernnie Thorne, and Gail Steen. The family would like to thank them for their kindness.
She is survived by her husband of 43 wonderful years, David Allen Woodrum; sons, Charles (Brandi) of Lorain, Eric (Diana) of Mesa, Arizona; daughters, Christine and Denise (Hardy) Hall, both of Lorain; grandchildren, Alexis of Bremerton, Washington, stationed at Kitsap Naval Base; Kaitlyn D. and Lauren J. of Lorain, Hartford II and Nathanial, both of Lorain; step-grandchildren, Cory and Cassandra of Lorain; Darlene had one great granddaughter, Alexandria (Ri’) Faith Woodrum, also of Lorain; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Elsie and Thomas Thomas; grandparents, Frederick and Nell Mellon; her brother, Vernon Mellon in 1997; and niece, Beverly Mellon.
Darlene was deeply loved and will be crazy missed by her family and friends.
Service will be held privately by the family.
