Sylvia Lee Kozel, 76, of New London, died Friday, August 24, 2012, at her home. She was born October 14, 1935, in Lodi, to the late Alton and Ruth (nee Skaggs) Sprinkle.
Sylvia was a talented seamstress. She was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New London and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Sylvia was also a member of the Lions Club. Most of all, she will be remembered as a devoted mother and wife, who deeply loved and cared for her family.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Kozel; her children, Holly A. Wood of Columbus, Debora Kozel of Sycamore, Robert (Michelle) Kozel Jr. of Johnstown, Mary (Richard) Gaunt of Columbus, Cathy (Bret) Holzwart of Columbus Nebraska, Steve (Amy) Kozel of Upper Sandusky, Karen Clark and Brenda Kozel, both of Columbus, and Sharon Kozel of Wooster; 16 grandchildren; and one great- grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Cliton Sprinkle of Georgia.
Sylvia was preceded in death by a brother, Myron; her son, Michael; and daughter, Patricia.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, August 28, 2012, from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 P.M., with a Rosary service at 7:45, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, August 29, 2012, beginning at 11:30 A.M., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Ave., New London, with Reverend Doug Taylor as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, New London.
