Warren H. Burnett

Warren H. Burnett, 88, of Seminole, Florida, ended his life’s journey Wednesday, August 22, 2012, and will be missed by all who knew him. He was born in Elyria, February 2, 1924.

After graduating from York Township High School in 1942, Warren proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the South Pacific Campaign in WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. Warren married Sophia Rogala on January 22, 1949 and together they followed their dreams and built a life that lasted more than 63 years. Warren worked at the Heavy Equipment Systems Group (Bendix) in Elyria, and on weekends, worked as a skilled carpenter building four homes for his family over the years. He retired in 1981 from his position as Quality Control Supervisor and in 1982, Warren and his wife relocated to sunny Florida to spend many happy days on the golf course. He was very proud the day he scored a hole-in-one! Warren was a Member in Good Standing of the Black River Lodge #0786 of The Grand Lodge of F.& A.M. of Ohio, a Life Member of the VFW, and a Life Member of the Disabled AmVets.

Warren was preceded in passing by his siblings, John L., Maurice, Karl, Evalyn, and Martha (Suzy); his grandson-in-law, Bobby Carter; and his grandson, Andrew Spierings.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sophia; daughter, Kathleen Spierings (Redington Shores, Florida); son, Thomas (Queen Creek, Arizona); grandchildren, Julie Williams (Seminole, Florida), Lisa Suarez (Redington Shores, Florida), Jacob (Queen Creek, Arizona), Lucas (Worcester, Massachusetts), and Katie (Tempe, Arizona); and great-grandchildren, Reina Suarez (Caracas, Venezuela) and Maya Williams (Seminole, Florida).

A Memorial service will take place at Reese Funeral Home in Seminole, Florida at 11 A.M., on Friday, August 31, 2012, followed by a procession to Bay Pines National Veteran Cemetery for a USMC Military Honors Ceremony. A Gathering for family and friends will begin at 1:30 P.M., at Twin Oaks Community Center, 11200 102nd Ave., Seminole.
