George J. Jones, 86, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 23, 2012 in the Mercy Hospital following a short illness. He was born in Barboursville, Kentucky, coming to Elyria years ago from Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Jones was a Horse Groomer for many years in Kentucky and a Veteran of the U.S. Army of WWII stationed in Germany. He enjoyed watching Mystery Stories on TV and riding his bike.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Williams of Chicago; one granddaughter; his caregiver, Kathy Gause of Lorain; host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Daisy Jones; sisters, Ollie Brown, Ethel Ross, Ann Jones, and Eola Ross; brothers, Johnny Jones, Reed Jones, and Chester Jones.
Friends may call Saturday, September 1, 2012 in the Carter Funeral Homes Inc., 127 W. Bridge St., Elyria, OH 44035 from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. Pastor Doris E. Williams will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
