
Richard F. Krek, 83, of Avon Lake and formerly of North Ridgeville, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 29, 2012. He was born March 23, 1929 in Lorain and was a 1948 graduate of Lorain High School.
He served with the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1950 and then was employed for 40 years with the B.F. Goodrich Company in Avon Lake, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed gardening, collecting autographs, including movie stars and presidents.
Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth A. “Betty” (nee Somogyi); daughters, Gayle (Craig) Hignett of Sheffield Village, Pamela Jackson of Elyria; son, Randy Krek of Vermilion; grandchildren, Clarissa, Justin, Adam, Bergan, Brandon and Kristen; great-grandchildren, Alaina, Logan, Landon, Morgan, Gavin and Kendall; and a sister, Dolores (Joseph) Trifiletti of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Johanna Krek; and two infant brothers.
Friends will be received Saturday, September 1, 2012, from 11 A.M., until the time of a Noon service in the Mausoleum of Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, with Pastor Kareem Smith, Associate Pastor, at Church of the Open Door, officiating. Elyria V.F.W. #1079 will conduct military honors.
