Upon arriving at the Ohio hotel, festivities were in full gear. In the hotel lobby, former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland was doing multiple television interviews amid the rest of the who’s who in Ohio politics, including legislators, mayors and activists.
As I waited in the hotel lobby to head to the NASCAR Hall of Fame for the evening’s events, including a John Legend kickoff concert, actor, comedian and political commentator D.L. Hughley walked in.
He and I spent some time discussing the Ohio political terrain, northeastern Ohio and the status of the efforts by the Ohio secretary of state to limit access to early voting.
After spending some time at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, the group I was with scored some passes to the CNN Grill.
Inside we chatted with patrons and were able to meet Wolf Blitzer and Donna Brazile.
Next to us was actress Rosario Dawson and further down was CNN commentator Anderson Cooper.
After enjoying fellowship and chatting about what we expect in the next few days as well as in November, I finally made it to bed around 2:30 a.m.
Breakfast at 7:30 is going to come quickly.
