Nellie C. Boyd, 48, of Elyria, peacefully passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in the care of New Life Hospice at Oak Hills Nursing Home in Lorain, after a lengthy illness. She was born October 26, 1963 in Lorain and was a graduate of New Castle Senior High School in Pennsylvania.
She was a longtime resident of Elyria and worked as an LPN for Abbewood Nursing Home in Elyria and was a member of Elyria Baptist Church. She was also an artist who loved to draw.
She will be sadly missed by her father, Rev. Dr. Cleophus (Jennie) Jackson of New Castle, Pennsylvania; 10 sisters and brothers, Chris (Cathy) Thomas and Dion Boyd, both of Lorain, Kimberly (Robert) Donnell of New Castle, Pennsylvania, Sonya Thomas, Leona Bosewell and Virginia Boyd, all of Cleveland, Mathis “PeeWee” (Jodi) Boyd of Columbus, William (Jay) Boyd of Elyria, Matthew “Wambi” (Jenny) Boyd of Whitaker, Kentucky and Unity (Eric) Miller of Canton; paternal grandmother, Emma Jackson of New Castle, Pennsylvania; paternal grandfather, William Jackson of Youngstown; godson, Angel (Brooke) Rodriguez of Lorain; special friends, Denise Shafstall, Darlene Duncan, Susan Zaleski and Renee Morton; and host of other loving relatives and friends.
Nellie was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Boyd (nee Thomas) and maternal grandmother, Nellie Ware; maternal grandfather, William Thomas.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 11 A.M. until time of funeral service at 12 Noon at Elyria Baptist Church, 276 Washington Avenue, Elyria. Pastor Chuck Leininger will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
