Barbara J. Grieve (nee Rook), 79, of LaGrange, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake, following a long illness. She was born June 1, 1933 in Huntington Twp.
Barbara was had worked as a mail carrier for 20 years with the United States Postal Service. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton. Barbara treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, reading, watching sports, and trivia.
Survivors include her six daughters, Karen Thornsbury (Gary) of Trinity, Alabama, Cheryl Gardner (Doug) of LaGrange Twp., Susan Yousko (Steve) of Sedona, Arizona, Debbie Gall (John) of Oberlin, Lori Christine Stefancin (Kenneth) of Homerville, Jennifer Myers (Jeff) of Spencer; two sons, Joseph (Patti) of Wellington, Timothy (Cherylann) of Penfield Twp.; additional survivors include 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Jayne Weidrick (Allen) of Spencer and Debbie Hayden (Ken) of Sarasota, Florida; and her brother, Larry Rook (Juane) of Ashland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; son, David; grandchild, Colin Myers; great grandchild, Faith Lee; and her parents, Wilbur and Aileen (nee Regal) Rook.
Friends may call 4 to 7 P.M., Monday, September 10, 2012 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 708 Erie Street, Grafton, where closing prayers will be at 11:45 A.M., Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon at the church. Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Grafton.
Memorial contributions in Barbara’s memory can be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
