Henry Mathew Pintur, 93, of Sullivan, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at EMH Regional Health Center after a short illness. He was born February 10, 1919 in Monaca, Pennsylvania and had been a Sullivan resident for the past five years moving from Amherst and Vermilion.
He was a veteran of US Army serving in Europe and the Philippe’s during WWII. Henry worked for US Steel/National Tube, Lorain 43 years retiring in 1980. He had been a member of St. Vitus, Lorain, the Croatian Club, Oberlin Grange, VFW Post #7576 and AMVETS Post #22. Henry had also been a member of the Lorain City Champion Hockey League from 1940-1942. He was an avid traveler, expert angler, and life time gardener. He had enjoyed volunteering for the Vermilion Garden Club and Black River Girl Scouts.
He is survived by his son, Jerry and Sachi Pintur of Maui, Hawaii; daughters, Sandra and Lee Tkach of Kellys Island and Rebecca and Michael Buck of Amherst; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, John of Lorain, Carl of Arizona and Steve of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly J. (nee Mills) Pintur in 1989; parents, Karl and Ruth (nee Ivick); son, Dennis and daughter, Nancy in 1998; and sister, Ruth Helyes.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Friends may also call on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 11 A.M. until 12 Noon when family and friends will share and celebrate Henry’s life at the Riddle Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
