Lloyd L. Green, 79, of Sheffield Lake, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at Bradley Bay Health Center, Bay Village, after a lengthy illness. He was born February 6, 1933 in Falkville, Alabama, and had been a Sheffield Lake resident for the past 52 years moving from Lorain and Elyria. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.
Lloyd worked for Olsen which became York International as a quality control specialist having perfect attendance for the 44 years he worked before retiring in 1995.
He had been a member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church. Lloyd recorded two records in the early 1950′s and had a large fan base that could listen to his music when it was played on the radio. He had an appreciation for fine guitars and enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing. He also enjoyed the time he spent with grandchildren and family. He was a great joke teller.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mavle Green (nee Hinkle); son, Kyron “Ky” S. (Missy) Green of Wakeman; grandchildren, Matthew and Brooke; brothers, Leon (Martha Nell) Green of Cullman, Alabama, William (Carol) Green of Elyria, Hoyt (Kathy) Green of Taylor, Michigan, David (Michelle) Green of North Ridgeville, and Harold Green; sisters, Elizabeth Burns of Cullman, Alabama, Gladys Linton of Cullman, Alabama, and Brenda Sawyer of Elyria; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Sudia (nee Owens) Green.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Friends may also call from 10 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11 A.M., Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Riddle Funeral Home. The Reverend Byron Eidson will officiate. Interment will follow at Rugby Cemetery, Brownhelm Township, where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
