Former Grafton police chief sues to get his job back

Carroll

ELYRIA — Former Grafton Police Chief Lonnie Carroll has sued the village to get his job back.

Carroll was abruptly fired late last month just a day after he was placed on paid administrative leave.

Mayor Megan Flanigan and other village officials have refused to discuss the reasons behind Carroll’s termination and contend he was fired “without cause.”

In his lawsuit, filed today in Lorain County Common Pleas Court, Carroll argues that he cannot be fired without cause.

In addition to an order reinstating him to his old job — now held by Daniel Clark, who was a part-time patrol officer until becoming chief in the wake of Carroll’s firing — Carroll is seeking back pay.
